Brick and glass facade of a new two-storey home in Kew at dusk

Kew Residence

Kew, Melbourne, Australia

About the project

A new two-storey home in Kew, designed and built by Benz New Homes, with a double-height entrance void, an open kitchen and living level, and a palette of stone and timber.

Working to Benz New Homes' design, Lucretia supplied the decorative and architectural lighting for the home. Every decorative piece was specified in the same brushed rose gold finish at 3000K, so the void pendant, the living room and kitchen pendants and the wall lights in the bedroom and bathrooms read as one family through the house.

Four of the pieces are custom versions of standard Lucretia designs, sized for the spaces they sit in: the Verso in the entrance void, the Ceaseless Linear over the kitchen island, and the Orchestral and Selene Stretch wall lights upstairs.

Magnetic track lighting and recessed downlights complete the architectural layer.

A custom Verso for the entrance void

The entrance void carries a custom version of the Verso Void Pendant Light, made at 1700mm high and 700mm wide for a total drop of 3.5 metres, with a ball at its centre in the same brushed rose gold finish.

Hung in the tall window above the front door, the pendant can be seen from the street at night, and from the upstairs lounge it is framed by the internal window that looks back across the void.

The Verso Void Pendant Light embodies the perfect balance between art and engineering. Crafted from electroplated stainless steel, its fluid curves and intertwined form create a striking sculptural presence.

02 Living room

Kleiner 10A over the living room

In the living room, a Kleiner 10A Pendant light hangs above the glass coffee table in front of the stone feature wall, 1000mm across and 640mm high, in brushed rose gold on a 1.5-metre adjustable cord.

The looped and eye-catching Kleiner is a mastery of stainless steel and lighting sculpture. Broad ox-bow shapes evoke the natural flow of water while retaining an air of mechanical precision and lustre.

03 Kitchen island

A custom Ceaseless Linear over the island

Above the stone island, a custom Ceaseless Linear Pendant light runs 1800mm long and 300mm wide, with interlinked LED rings set on a 1.5-metre adjustable cord in brushed rose gold.

Each ring is handcrafted from premium stainless steel and finished with refined polishing for a sleek, modern appearance. The integrated LED system delivers soft ambient illumination, creating a balanced harmony between sculptural form and functional lighting.

Wall lights in the main bedroom, ensuite and powder room

Upstairs, a pair of custom small Orchestral Wall Sconces flank the bed in the main bedroom, and a custom Selene Stretch Wall Lamp sits between the mirrors in the ensuite, both in brushed rose gold.

In the powder room, a Galaxy Suspended Wall Lamp in brown glass with a gold base hangs beside the round mirror, and a Millie Wall Lamp lights the entry joinery downstairs.
