Full-House Bespoke Lighting Design
This private residence in Brighton is a large multi-level home with classical, French-influenced architecture, finished to a standard that runs through every room. Lucretia supplied the complete lighting scheme. Every fitting in the house, from the chandelier above the entry to the uplights in the garden beds, was delivered by a single team. That includes the bespoke decorative pieces, the architectural and concealed lighting, and the exterior lighting, all coordinated so the home reads as one continuous scheme rather than a collection of separate purchases.
In a home of this size, lighting is rarely the work of one supplier. Coordinating it through a single source meant consistent colour temperature between rooms, decorative fittings sized correctly to their spaces, and one point of accountability for the whole installation. The centrepiece of that scheme is a bespoke waterfall chandelier that runs through the core of the house.
Entry and Formal Rooms
The formal living and sitting rooms use French-style crystal chandeliers with champagne-finish arms and faceted crystal drops, paired with matching crystal wall sconces. The fittings suit the classical detailing of these rooms and provide soft, even decorative light against the cream and timber-panelled interiors.
The dining room is anchored by a long rectangular brass chandelier with candle arms and crystal detailing, scaled to sit above the dining table. In the kitchen, a pair of ribbed-glass pendants on brass chains hang over the island, providing focused light at the bench while complementing the brass range hood.
The Waterfall Chandelier
The defining feature of the home is a bespoke crystal waterfall chandelier that descends through the central stair void across several levels. Suspended from a glazed oval dome at the top of the house, the fitting hangs as a single continuous column of crystal, falling the full height of the curved staircase to the floor below.
The piece was designed and engineered specifically for this void. A standard chandelier could not address a space this tall and narrow, where the light needs to be visible and resolved from every landing rather than only from one viewing point. The waterfall solves that by reading as one vertical element the whole way down, anchoring the spiral stair and giving the home's circulation core a single dramatic focus.
By day, light from the dome above passes down through the crystal. At night, the fitting becomes the brightest point in the stairwell, drawing the eye upward through the levels. It is the most technically demanding element of the project and the one that ties the house together vertically.
Lower Level
The lower level holds a wine cellar and bar where Lucretia combined decorative and architectural lighting.
The home theatre uses a recessed ceiling tray with colour-changing LED cove lighting and discreet downlights, allowing the room to shift between general light and a dimmed setting for viewing.
The indoor pool is lit with our Running Water wall lights along the corridor.
Bathroom, Gym and Service Spaces
Exterior
Outside, Lucretia continued the scheme with exterior lighting across the facade and garden. Recessed uplights wash the rendered walls and pick out the planting in the garden beds, and a feature wall fountain is lit within its niche so it remains a focal point after dark. The exterior lighting extends the warmth of the interior scheme to the approach and grounds, so the home presents consistently from the street through to the rear garden.

Beyond the hero pieces, the house contains a large number of supporting fittings: wall lights, downlights, concealed strip lighting, and step lighting throughout. Delivering all of it through one team meant the decorative and architectural layers were planned together rather than retrofitted around each other.
