Project Scope:
Full-house residential lighting & bespoke decorative lighting

At Scotsburn Mansion in Toorak, Lucretia was engaged to deliver the complete lighting package for the residence. Every layer of light in the home, from the bespoke decorative pieces to the architectural lighting concealed within the ceilings, joinery and stair, was designed, supplied and delivered by our team as a single coordinated solution.

Commissions of this scale are rarely about individual fixtures. They are about how light behaves across an entire home, how a sculptural piece reads against a recessed cove, how a stairwell is experienced from the ground floor and from three levels above. Working alongside the project's design and construction teams, Lucretia carried the lighting intent from concept through to installation.

Running Water

The centrepiece of the home is Running Water, a bespoke multi-drop installation that descends through the full height of the marble staircase. Dozens of hand-finished crystal glass pendants fall in a continuous vertical composition beneath the oval skylight, so that daylight and lamplight move through the same cascade. From the entry, the piece reads as a single column of light. From the upper landings, it becomes something you look down through, framed by the sweep of the black balustrade.

Pharaoh

In the entertaining spaces below, the custom Pharaoh pendant takes a different approach entirely. Its intersecting illuminated frames form a geometric sculpture that holds its own against the Venetian plaster ceilings and the veined stone of the bar, structured, architectural and precise where Running Water is fluid.

A further suite of bespoke pendants continues through the home, each piece developed specifically for its position, sightlines and ceiling condition.

The architectural layer

Just as considered is the lighting that disappears. Continuous cove and shadowline details wash the curved plaster ceilings. Magnetic track systems provide adjustable accent lighting without visual clutter. Recessed step lights, joinery lighting and wall-wash details carry a consistent temperature and quality of light through corridors, stairs and service spaces, including the brass-lined lift. The result is a home where the decorative pieces perform because the light around them has been quietly resolved.

Scotsburn Mansion reflects the way Lucretia prefers to work: as the single lighting partner across an entire project. Custom fabrication, architectural specification, technical coordination and installation support were managed under one roof, giving the design team a single point of contact from first drawings to final commissioning.
