Kew Residence
Magnetic Track & Linear Lighting Integration
Tailored Lighting Design That Transforms Everyday Living
This modern home in Kew, Victoria, exemplifies how well-planned lighting can elevate everyday living. The homeowner approached Lucretia Lighting during the design phase, concerned about the builder’s RCP layout, which had proposed a ceiling saturated with downlights—an approach the client found unappealing and overly generic.
We were commissioned to create a complete, tailored lighting plan using magnetic track systems and linear lighting, ensuring every room reflected both the architectural intent and the homeowner’s lifestyle.
Magnetic Track Lighting
The tracks were carefully integrated into the ceiling layout to align with structural elements and room functions. We used a mix of modules—spotlights, diffused ambient lights, and task lighting—to support flexibility and layering in every space.
Artwork Lighting
Dedicated spotlights were positioned to highlight each artwork, with precision aiming and high colour accuracy to enhance visual impact without glare.
Targeted Downlighting
To respect the client’s dislike for a downlight-heavy ceiling, we limited recessed downlights to areas that truly required them, using them only for subtle supplementary lighting.
Linear LED Lighting
ntegrated linear fixtures were used throughout joinery details, kitchen benchtops, curtain pelmets, dropped ceilings, and the outdoor BBQ area. These provided seamless functional light while enhancing the home’s clean lines.
Timber Slat Wall Feature
A custom lighting approach was developed for the timber batten walls, using soft indirect lighting to accentuate the texture and create a sense of depth.
